#1. Flat Crochet Heart Shape
- Rnd 1: Work a Magic Ring, Ch 2, Work 3 Tr in the ring, 4 Dc, 1 Tr, 4 Dc, 3 Tr, Ch 2, Sl St into ring, Ch 1
- Rnd 2: Work 2Sc in the prev Ch-2 Sp, work 3 Dc inc into the next 3 Sts, Work 1 Dc into the next 3 Sts, 2Dc inc, work a (Dc, Tr, Dc) in the next stitch, 2Dc inc, Dc 3, 3Dc inc into the next 3 Sts, Sc 2 into the Ch Sp, Slst to join, Ch 1
- Rnd 3: Sc 2, *(Dc, 3Dc inc), Rep (*) 2 more times, Dc 7, (Dc, Tr, Dc) into the next St, Dc 7, **(3Dc inc, Dc), Rep (**) 2 more times, Sc 2, Slst to join.
To continue increasing each round, just continue to add up one (1) extra Dc stitch before each 3Dc increase and repeat 2 more times. This is very similar when working on a flat circle in the round.
Then you will continue to work a single stitch until the 3rd last Dc St from the bottom tip, repeat the pattern above ( 2Dc inc, Dc, Tr, Dc), and repeat the same pattern on the other half of the heart.
#2. Poufy 3D Heart Pattern
- Work the Flat Crochet Heart Pattern (#1) and make 2 pieces.
- Place both pieces together RS out.
- Pull the loop from the last St through the 1 St on the front piece, Ch 1
- Work Sc Sts into each St on both pcs together in the round, stopping at around 2in / 5cm before closing.
- Take your polyfill fiber and start stuffing. You may decide how much or how little you would like to stuff.
- Once done, close up the rest of the Sts and Slst to close.
This is a great project to make as a hanging ornament, (think garlands!), a pin cushion or if made bigger this would make a great huggable pillow.
#3. Granny Square Crochet Heart
Similar to the Flat Heart Pattern, we would require a specific number of stitches, so there are some slight adjustments done. You should have 31 stitches + 1 slipt stitch. Refer to the video tutorial here.
Prepare 2 yarn colors for contrast. I will be referring to Yarn A as the heart color and Yarn B as the square color.
- Rnd 1 (Yarn A) : Work a Magic Ring, Ch 2, Work 3 Tr in the ring, 3 Dc, 1 Tr, 3 Dc, 3 Tr, Ch 2, Sl St into ring, Ch 1
- Rnd 2: Work 2Sc in the prev Ch Sp, work 3 Dc inc into the next 3 Sts, Work 1 Dc into the next 4 Sts, work a (Dc, Tr, Dc) in the next St, Dc 4, 3Dc inc into the next 3 Sts, Sc 2 into the Ch Sp, Slst to join, bind off and leave a long tail.
- Rnd 3 (Yarn B): From the Slst, count 5 Sts to the left, and draw up a loop, (Ch 2, Dc, Ch 2, 2Dc) into the same St. This is your 1st Corner St.
- Next, work Hdc 2, Sc, Hdc 2, Dc, (2Tr, Ch 2, 2Tr) in the following St. This will be your 2nd Corner St.
- Next, work Dc, Hdc 2, Sc, Hdc 2, Dc, (2Tr, Ch 2, 2Tr) in the following St. This will be your 3rd Corner St.
- Finally, work Dc, Hdc 2, Dc2tog, Tr into the prev Slst Sp, Dc2tog, Hdc 2, Slst to join.
To continue increasing each round, you will work into each St and work a corner stitch between the chain space.
A simple example would be to work double crochet stitches into each stitch, once you arrive at the corner chain space, work 2 double crochet, 2 chains, and 2 more double crochet into the same chain space, and proceed with a double crochet stitch across.
Repeat the corner stitch at every turning round.
