DESIGN INSPIRATION
Are you looking for a nice outfit for a night out? If so, you might want to try making a planned pooling crochet sweater dress.
It’s easy to put together, easy to wear, and beginner-friendly too.
But what exactly is planned pooling in crochet? Simply put, it’s a technique where you intentionally repeat the same number of stitches per color using variegated pooling yarn to create a specific design or color pattern.
The term “pooling” refers to gathering the same colors together to form a “pool” and achieve a desired pattern or sequence.red pattern or sequence.red pattern or sequence.
I absolutely adore oversized sweaters that can also serve as dresses. And with a little shoulder drape, it’s a complete winner.
If you’re worried about the pattern being complicated, I’ve got you covered with a step-by-step video tutorial on how to plan pooling using any stitch. Once you’ve got your tension down pat, the rest is easy-peasy!

CONSTRUCTION
This pattern utilizes the simple Single Crochet stitch for the entire body piece, and a beautiful Paddle Stitch to finish off the edges. It involves working in multiple sequences and counting each stitch is crucial.
Both pieces are worked up in rectangles to create the Argyle/diamond pattern. The pattern comes in nine different sizes, ranging from XS to 5XL, making it suitable for everyone.
To achieve the desired pattern with any preferred stitch, there is a step-by-step picture and video tutorial available on planned pooling. However, depending on the yarn used, some minor adjustments to the stitches may be necessary.
Though the pattern requires intermediate-level skills, the video tutorial explains each step and guides you throughout the process.
I am using Caron Jumbo Pooling Yarn in the color Rosewood and my Mdoker 5.5mm hook throughout. Another great pooling yarn option you check out is the Red Heart Super Saver Jumbo Pooling Yarn. They have many great color options to choose from!
